Three seasons, and one big caveat: the Gulf islands run on their own calendar and peak for rain in November, when the rest of the country is at its best.
The easy window. Rare rain, temperatures in the high twenties, and everything from Bangkok street food to the Andaman islands working properly. It is also peak season, so book the islands and the Chiang Mai guesthouses well ahead.
It gets genuinely hot, up past 35C inland, and then the country throws water at itself for three days in mid April for Songkran. Prices soften either side of it, and the diving on both coasts is at its clearest.
Rain comes in short heavy bursts rather than all day, the north turns properly green, and prices drop hard. This is also when the Gulf islands are at their best, which is the opposite of the rest of the country.
