Abu Dhabi Finance Week

7 – 10 December 2026 · ADGM, Abu Dhabi

Hosted by Abu Dhabi Global Market, Abu Dhabi Finance Week convenes the institutional end of global finance. The 2025 edition brought together decision-makers representing $62 trillion in assets.

Why it might be worth the flight

This is the most senior capital allocation audience on the entire list, and digital assets now sit on the main agenda rather than in a side track. It is a different register from a crypto conference - closer to Sibos than to Coinfest - and worth attending only with an institutional proposition.

Know before you tap

Two rules that save you real money abroad

  1. 01

At the card machine, always choose the local currency

Converts once, at a flat 1.8% Forex Charge.

Why the dollar option costs more

The machine will offer to charge you in dollars instead. It sounds helpful. It is not. Choose the local currency - baht, yen, won, whatever is on the screen - and your money converts once, at a flat 1.8% Forex Charge.

Taking the dollar option is called dynamic currency conversion. The shop sets that exchange rate, not Visa, and it usually costs you 3% to 7%. You will never see it listed as a fee, because it is hidden inside the rate. That is the point of it. Say no, every time.

  2. 02

Online, pay in dollars when the site is already in dollars

Nothing to convert, nothing to pay. 0%.

Why this one is not a trick

Booking sites, conference tickets and airlines often quote in dollars already. That is not a conversion trick. That is just the price. Your money is already in dollars, so there is nothing to convert and nothing to pay. 0%.

Hotel in dollars. Flight in dollars. Ticket in dollars. Three charges, no conversion on any of them.

Your money stays yours, wherever you land
