Answers, without the hedging
What rate does this converter use?
It uses the mid-market rate, which is the midpoint between what buyers are bidding and what sellers are asking across major venues. It is the rate you will see quoted on a market data screen, and it is the right number to convert with because nobody has taken a cut out of it yet.
It is a reference rate, not a quote. The number you get from any exchange or ramp will differ by their spread and fees.
Does Kite let me buy crypto with my local currency?
Yes. Our on ramp lets you buy stablecoins with local payment methods in the markets we serve, and the app shows you the payment method, the rate, the fee and the settlement time before you confirm anything.
Which currencies can I convert from?
Forty-three, grouped in the picker so they are quick to find. The nine currencies of the markets we serve come first, then the US dollar, euro and pound, then the rest by region: Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America. Start typing a country and the list will find it.
The nine we serve are the Singapore dollar, Malaysian ringgit, Philippine peso, Thai baht, Vietnamese dong, Japanese yen, South Korean won, New Taiwan dollar and Australian dollar.
Why does my USDT balance show as dollars in the app?
Because that is what it is worth. Kite holds your balance in US dollars whether the stablecoin that arrived was USDC or USDT, so you never have to think about which one you are holding when you go to spend it.
Is there a minimum amount?
The card takes a top up from $0.11, so the practical minimum is small. The converter itself has no minimum, it is a calculator.
Can I use Kite where I live?
Kite is open to residents of Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Australia, who are over 18 and have completed identity checks. The converter is free for anyone to use.
Convert once. Spend in dollars.
A Kite balance holds dollars, the Stable Card spends them anywhere Visa is accepted, and Scan and Pay handles the merchant QR. No annual fee, nothing to issue the card.
