App basics: balances, transactions, statuses

Your balances

Your portfolio is split into three balance types:

Cash balance

Your USDC and USDT holdings in your wallet.

Assets balance

The value of all other supported tokens in your wallet.

Card balance

Funds you've moved from your wallet to your Kite Card. This balance can be spent using your card.

Note: Balances are network-specific. For example, 100 USDC on Ethereum is different from 100 USDC on Base. Switch networks in the app to view balances for each network.

Transaction history

The Transactions tab shows all activity across your account.

Transaction types

  • Sent: You transferred tokens to another wallet.
  • Received: You received tokens from another wallet or service.
  • Converted: You exchanged one token for another.
  • Card top-up: You moved funds from your wallet to your Kite Card.
  • Card purchase: You made a purchase using your Kite Card.
  • Card refund: A merchant refunded a previous card purchase.
  • Card reversal: A previously authorized card transaction was reversed.

Each transaction includes:

  • Amount
  • Transaction type
  • Counterparty (when available)
  • Date and time
  • Status
  • Blockchain network
  • Transaction hash (blockchain transaction ID)

Transaction statuses

Pending

Your transaction is being processed.

  • Most transactions complete within 30 seconds to 15 minutes.
  • If a transaction is still pending after 30 minutes, contact Kite Support.

Completed

  • Your transaction has been successfully processed and is final.
  • Blockchain transactions can't be reversed once completed.

Failed

The transaction wasn't completed. Common reasons include:

  • Insufficient balance
  • Network congestion or errors
  • Invalid recipient address

If a transaction fails:

  • Your funds remain in (or are returned to) your wallet.
  • No Kite transaction fees are charged for failed transactions.

Authorized

  • Your card payment has been approved by the merchant but hasn't been fully settled yet.
  • Once the merchant completes settlement, the transaction status changes to Completed.

Good to know

  • Wallet balances update after the blockchain confirms the transaction, usually within 2 minutes.
  • Pull down to refresh if your balance hasn't updated yet.
  • Your Card balance is separate from your wallet balances.
  • If there's ever a discrepancy, the blockchain transaction (viewed using the transaction hash in a blockchain explorer) is the source of truth.
