How Kite uses a non-custodial wallet

A non-custodial wallet means you control your funds.

Your assets are stored on the blockchain, and only you can authorize transactions from your wallet. Kite provides the app and services that help you manage your wallet, but Kite does not hold or control your crypto.

What Kite can help with

Kite helps you manage and use your wallet, including:

  • Creating your wallet and signing in securely.
  • Sending, receiving, swapping, and bridging crypto.
  • Viewing your balances and transaction history.
  • Using Kite features like the Kite Card and Address Book.
  • Helping with KYC, app issues, and transaction troubleshooting.

What Kite can't do

Because your wallet is non-custodial, there are some things Kite cannot do:

  • Access or move your funds. Only you can authorize transactions from your wallet.
  • Reverse blockchain transactions. Once a transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, it generally can't be cancelled or reversed.
  • Recover funds sent to the wrong address. Blockchain transactions are permanent, so it's important to double-check the recipient address and network before sending.
  • Change how blockchains operate. Network fees, confirmation times, and blockchain rules are determined by the underlying blockchain, not by Kite.
  • Bypass wallet security. If you permanently lose access to all of your registered sign-in methods, recovering access to your wallet may not be possible.

Good to know

  • Every transaction requires your approval. Kite never initiates transactions on your behalf.
  • Keep your phone number, email address, and other sign-in methods secure, as they protect access to your wallet.
  • Even though Kite doesn't custody your funds, our support team is always available to help with app features, KYC, account questions, and transaction troubleshooting.
