Card payment declined
A card decline usually comes down to one of a few things. Run through these before contacting support.
Check your card balance
Your card balance is separate from your wallet balance. Open the Kite app and check the balance in the Card section. If it's low, top up from USDC or USDT and try again.
Check your spending limits
You might have hit a cap. Current Kite card limits:
- Spending (purchases and online): $50,000 or 50 transactions per day
- ATM: coming soon (planned limit: $10,000 or 20 withdrawals per day)
Daily limits reset at midnight UTC+8 (SGT).
Check your card status
Go to the Card section. If the status is Frozen, tap Unfreeze and retry.
For non-USD purchases, check the total
Spends in currencies other than USD include a 1.8% FX fee. If the purchase amount plus the fee is more than your card balance, the charge will decline. Top up a bit more and retry.
For online purchases, check your card details
Make sure you entered the card number (16 digits), CVV (3 digits on the back), and expiration date correctly. Retry after fixing any typos.
Some merchants don't accept prepaid cards
Certain merchants (car rental companies, hotels, some subscription services) decline prepaid cards even when you have enough balance. Try a different payment method or ask the merchant if they accept prepaid.
Still stuck
If none of the above works, email care@kiteapp.xyz with:
- Merchant name
- Purchase amount
- Date and time of the decline
- The error message you saw
