Transaction fees explained (gas fee vs Kite fee)
Kite covers network fees (gas) for all supported blockchain transactions, so you never need to hold or pay gas tokens like ETH or BNB yourself.
Depending on the action you're taking, a Kite fee may apply. You'll always see any applicable fees before confirming a transaction.
Network fees (gas)
Every blockchain transaction requires a network fee, commonly known as gas, which is paid to the blockchain validators.
With Kite:
- You don't pay gas directly.
- You don't need to hold the network's native token (such as ETH or BNB) to complete transactions.
- Kite automatically covers these network fees on supported transactions.
Kite fees
Kite charges fees for different actions:
Receiving crypto
Receiving crypto is always free.
Sending crypto
Sending crypto is free up to your daily per-network allowance. Once you've used your free allowance on a network, a flat Kite fee applies to each additional send on that network until the allowance resets.
- Most users never reach the free-send limit.
- The fee varies by network (for example, it's generally lower on Base than on Ethereum).
- Your free allowance resets daily at 12:00 AM UTC.
Swaps
- Swaps are subject to a fee of approximately 0.3%-0.5% of the swap amount.
- The exact fee is shown before you confirm the transaction.
Kite Card
- USD purchases: no additional fee.
- Non-USD purchases: 1.8% foreign exchange (FX) fee.
- Conversion fee: 0.53% on top-up.
Before you confirm
Kite always shows the total amount you'll pay, including any applicable fees, before you approve a transaction. If your transaction qualifies for free sending, you'll see no Kite fee.
What if my transaction fails?
If a transaction doesn't complete successfully:
- No Kite fee is charged.
- Your balance remains unchanged.
- You can try the transaction again once the issue is resolved.
